We tend to ignore our feet when it comes to care and do enough for the upper body. What we forget is that our feet take our weight every day, face the dirt on the floor, get tortured by our footwear and more. This causes clauses and cracked heels. Talking about cracked heels in this article, I have tried and tested some home remedies which I thought of sharing with all our readers. There are many more but these are the ones I have myself tried and they are super effective if you give it some time. Nothing happens overnight. So let’s get on with it. Vegetable Oil

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil

Method

  • Wash your feet and dry them up completely using a clean towel.
  • Then apply a layer of vegetable oil on the cracked parts of your feet.
  • Wear a pair of thick socks and leave it on overnight.
  • Wash your feet in the morning.

Vaseline and Lemon Juice

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp vaseline
  • 4 to 5 drops lemon juice
  • Warm water

Method

  • Soak your feet in warm water for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Rinse and pat dry.
  • Mix one teaspoon of Vaseline and a few drops of lemon juice.
  • Rub this mixture over your heels and other cracked parts of the feet till it gets absorbed into the skin.
  • Apply this mixture and wear a pair of woolen socks.
  • Keep it on overnight and wash off in the morning.
  • Woolen socks help trap the body’s heat and increase the effectiveness of the mixture.

Honey 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup honey
  • Warm water

Method

  • Mix one cup of honey to half a bucket of warm water.
  • Soak your feet for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Scrub off gently.
  • Wash with warm water
  • Moisturise.

Olive Oil

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Method

  • Wear a pair of thick cotton socks and wash off after an hour.

Oatmeal

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon powdered oatmeal
  • 4 to 5 drops olive oil

Method

  • Mix the powdered oatmeal (Buy Kellogg’s Oats, 1kg at a discounted price of Rs 120, here) and olive oil and make a thick paste. 
  • Apply this over your feet, especially over the heels and any cracked parts.
  • Leave it on for about half an hour.
  • Rinse off with cold water and pat dry.

Sesame Oil 

Ingredients

  • 4 to 5 drops sesame oil

Method

Coconut Oil

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon coconut oil
  • A pair of socks

Method

  • Apply the oil liberally on your feet.
  • Slip on the socks and go to bed.
  • Shower as usual.

Baking Soda Soak

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons baking soda
  • Warm water
  • A bucket
  • Pumice stone

Method

  • Fill 2/3rds of the bucket with warm water and add the baking soda.
  • Mix well until the baking soda dissolves in the water.
  • Soak your feet in this for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Remove your feet from the soak and scrub gently with the pumice stone.
  • Rinse.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Ingredients

  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • Warm water
  • A basin

Method

  • Fill the basin with enough water to soak your feet in – about three to four cups.
  • Add the apple cider vinegar and mix it well.
  • Soak your feet in the water for about 15 minutes and scrub afterward to remove the dead skin.
